David G. Phillips, founder/president/CEO of Custom Development Solutions, Inc. (CDS), has 35 years of high-level fundraising experience. Mr. Phillips founded CDS 20 years ago. The firm and its leaders have planned and managed hundreds of successful capital campaigns raising more than $2.5 Billion worldwide. His expertise is major gifts fundraising and the planning and management of capital campaigns.
Prior to CDS, Phillips served 3 yrs. as Chief Development Officer for Spoleto Festival USA. Before Spoleto, Phillips was a leader at an international consulting firm based in New York, NY. He directed capital campaigns for Rotary International, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International, Lions Clubs International and the American Baptist Churches, USA.
Phillips has lectured at fundraising conferences and seminars throughout the United States and Canada. He has published articles in industry publications Fundraising Success,Major Gifts Fundraising andGuidestar’s e-newsletter. David andCDS have been featured in The Wall Street Journal and Entrepreneur Magazine.
Mr. Phillips is on the boards of America’s Charities and its subsidiary Children First in Washington, DC, the Charleston Regional Alliance for the Arts and FreshStart Prison Ministry. Phillips received a B.S. in accounting from the Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina and is a Riley Institute Diversity Fellow.
